Piping Dori Hole Back Neck Design Cutting and Stitching

This design is a showstopper from behind! It combines the structure of piping with the delicate detail of a keyhole and tie closure. It’s easier than it looks.

The Process:

Cutting: Draft a standard back pattern piece. At the center back neck point, mark a vertical slit (the “hole”) about 4-5 inches long.

Piping: Sew piping along the entire raw edge of this slit. This frames the opening beautifully.

The Dori (Tie): Create a fabric-covered cord or use a pre-made one. At the top of the slit, create a small loop or channel from the facing for the tie to thread through.

Finishing: After attaching the facing, thread the dori through. You can criss-cross it through eyelets or simply tie it into a bow.

This design is perfect for lehengas, blouses, and summer dresses, offering an adjustable and incredibly stylish back detail.
